Indian sport has plenty of practitioners. It has very few masters.
A physiotherapist who treats a national athlete and a performance scientist who designs their entire training-recovery architecture are not doing the same job. One applies known techniques; the other uses research, data and advanced physiology to find the margins that separate good athletes from great ones.
The Masters Programme in Sports Sciences at ISST is for professionals already working in sport who want to go further — physiotherapists moving into performance science, coaches who want the physiology behind what they observe, sports-medicine doctors applying evidence-based methods to elite athletes, and athletes turning competitive understanding into a research-grounded second career.
This is not a conversion programme. It is an advanced qualification for people who have already laid the foundation.
What you study across two years
Every module is taught at postgraduate depth. If you have covered it at undergraduate level, you will meet it here at a level you have not encountered before.
Advanced Exercise Physiology
Elite training adaptations, thermoregulation, altitude physiology and the limits of human performance.
Advanced Sports Biomechanics
3D motion analysis, force-plate interpretation, injury mechanism analysis and technique optimisation.
Strength & Conditioning Science
Periodisation theory, neuromuscular adaptation, load monitoring and the evidence base behind elite S&C.
Research Design & Statistics
Postgraduate methodology, statistics, scientific writing and research ethics — preparation for the dissertation.
Embedded Field Placement
Six months in a high-performance setting — national academy, IPL franchise or SAI centre — with real accountability.
Masters Dissertation
An original investigation conducted in partnership with a sports organisation and published in the ISST research record.
